Job description
Role Summary
The Factory Manager owns end-to-end operations of the manufacturing unit — with managing and controlling production as the primary responsibility — alongside safety, quality, cost, people and continuous improvement. The role ensures that paper-based protective-packaging products (e.g. Hexcush, Fill8) are produced efficiently, on time, within budget and to specification, while upholding our sustainability and automation-first ethos.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and control day-to-day production as the primary responsibility — ensuring planned output, quality and delivery are achieved across all lines and shifts.
• Own overall plant operations across production, maintenance, quality, stores and dispatch to meet volume, cost and delivery targets.
• Drive Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), throughput and yield improvements on paper-converting and honeycomb manufacturing lines.
• Champion workplace safety (EHS) and ensure compliance with the Factories Act, pollution-control and other statutory norms.
• Implement and sustain lean / 5S / Kaizen / TPM practices to reduce waste, downtime and conversion cost.
• Plan manpower, shift scheduling and skill development; build a capable, motivated shop-floor team.
• Coordinate with PPC, procurement and supply chain to ensure material availability and adherence to the production plan.
• Lead preventive and breakdown maintenance to maximise machine uptime and equipment life.
• Control plant budgets, manage consumption norms, scrap and energy usage, and track operating cost per unit.
• Support new product / process introduction, capacity expansion and automation projects.
• Maintain quality systems and drive root-cause problem solving on customer and in-process quality issues.
Success Measures (KPIs)
• OEE, output volume and on-time-in-full (OTIF) dispatch.
• Conversion cost per unit, scrap %, and energy consumption.
• Safety incident rate (zero lost-time injuries) and statutory compliance.
• Quality rejection / customer complaint rate.
Qualifications & Experience
• B.E. / B.Tech (Mechanical, Production, Industrial) or equivalent; an MBA / operations qualification is a plus.
• 10–15 years in discrete / process manufacturing, ideally paper, packaging, converting or FMCG.
• Proven hands-on experience leading a plant or large production section with full P&L / cost ownership.
• Strong command of lean manufacturing, EHS norms and maintenance practices.
• Excellent people-leadership, problem-solving and cross-functional coordination skills.
• Working knowledge of the Finsys ERP application will be an added advantage.
